A-KON 25 | Dansou Style + Cosplaying as Lara Croft

Yo little cuties! Hope all is well! Summer is here and con season is on full blast for folks all over the states. As a matter of fact, after returning from A-KON, many people on my news feed were posting about 2 other different cons that happened the same weekend! It's nice to see that people are all enjoying themselves at these events. Personally, I always look forward to them because I get a massive explosion of creative inspiration after the weekend is over from attending a con and just go crazy with ideas for my YouTube or photography ideas.

I didn't buy a weekend badge but still managed to spend quality time at the hotel with my friends who I went with and also met a lot of people who knew me from my channel and Facebook! Here's my first look I did last Friday.
I totally shaved my brows shorter than I ever have before just for this look o.o They look so different don't they?
Ignore the pink sports bra for me, okay? > <
About 70% of my outfit was borrowed from my boyfriend haha! Surprisingly we fit pant sizes quite well but the only thing that was most loose on me was his black jacket I got for him last year for his bday. My inspiration came from both Akira and Shun...well honestly it was mainly from mister Shun lol! Hopefully for my first stab at this style I didn't bomb. It was mostly for fun though but if I try it again I might do a different look instead. Maybe something lighter and more boyish?

Funny thing is at first I kept wanting to be cutesy and girly with this outfit but I had to remember my style and refrain from doing such aegyo looking expressions. Eventually, I managed to do it properly after a couple of practice shots. Look at some I took with other people that day!
Her make up looked insane! I loved it! We also matched hair colors :)
Sweet friend from school named Shiu who looked too cute to not take a picture with! Plus she was kind enough to stop walking with her group to say hi which I thought was super sweet!
Axel! Dat hair looked glorious up close!
PIXIS-UHH!!!! This guy was so nice when I practically fangirled over his cosplay and looked bashful lol it was adorable!

More cool cosplayers I saw that night.
Noctis is pwning Cloud's cosplay pretty hard in this pic...lol my friend Ryan on the right ^ ^
As with all cons, we went to the rave and did other crazy things but overall that night was full of adrenaline and fun-loving people dressed up all around us. Good vibes literally were bursting out of the Anatole Hotel that night. It's needless to say I went to bed quite late after that point which I would soon regret the following morning...

Saturday came, and I woke up later than I honestly should have. My Lara Croft cosplay took forever for me to put on because of a few things but mostly for me being so sleepy and my Starbucks coffee having zero effect on me. This was my first actual cosplay I made mostly from scratch. I went on this website to learn how to build my bow and arrows, how to customize my walky talky, her necklace, pants, tank tops, and even studied her poses from the reference photos! Knowing that I didn't get any help from one of my guy friends or Kevin made me feel a certain way that not even J-fashion has made me feel. It's empowering in a whole different kind of way and I want to get that same feeling again and again! I felt really proud in the end despite my constant struggle to have it completely finished in a matter of a week! Why I foolishly procrastinate on every task related to cons beats the hell out of me but luckily I barely made the deadline by the skin of my teeth and here is the results.
The 2013 Tomb Raider reboot game is so worth playing if you haven't already! I was lucky to get it on Playstation Plus and really enjoyed being able to see the story of her at such a young age before blossoming into the iconic bamf we know her to be now. I wasn't planning to cosplay at all for A-KON but once I finished the game, I figured it'd be the perfect one to start off with as my first one. I saw that there will be a new game coming out too from E3 which is exciting!

At first when I walked around for 10 minutes or so, I didn't get too many photos taken of me and was mistaken for being both Katniss (Hunger Games) and Michonne (The Walking Dead) which seriously, I cannot wrap my mind around that last one. I don't have freaking dreads or a katana sword so wtf? Feeling bummed, I went up to take a rest at the room where my friends were and told them about it. They encouraged me to keep my head up and expect more as the day continues so I did and finally started getting noticed by more people as LARA CROFT! :D It was a terrific feeling! All the hard work paid off...the blood, sweat and tears was all worth it in the end!

Despite having a lot of issues with my quiver and some noobish quality mistakes, I still couldn't have been happier with the results. This is the most I've ever paid to build a cosplay too so I hope to upgrade her as time goes on and once my skills get better. I took some pics with my lady friend below who is Michiko Malandro's sexy ass!
Me and the sis in her punk dress and outfit!

I was tagged in other people's pics but if you find a photo of me on a cosplay website, it'd be really appreciated if you linked it to me so I can also see it too! Later I saw these adorable girls cosplaying as Rikku and Yuna from FFX-2!
That night didn't start off as hype as Friday night did and for whatever reason, Saturday flew way too quickly! Still, I managed to gather up as many friends as I could to our hotel room and we ended up getting so turnt that security came up and kicked us all out pahahaha! But we brought the party wherever we went so it was all good!

I had a slight hangover the morning after so I really didn't want to do much other than grab my shit and go home. Eventually after getting Korean BBQ at a buffet restaurant, I started to feel better. I passed out after a few minutes of arriving back home and am currently still sore from all the dancing and walking around. I keep telling myself I need to stretch more to help with the pain, but it just ain't happening lol.

I bought a few cute things although I really could have saved my money but the plushies and grab bags were calling my name!
This is a gift for a special someone who hopefully doesn't read this after I see him tomorrow. He likes the "3" mouth shape so I thought I'd get him this plus is a cute panda! But I'm keeping the bow though hehe!
Okay so this little cutie named Kiiroitori has been around for a while now but I am just now loving him to bits more than ever! Why is he so darn adorable! I almost wish I spent a little more to get the biggest one but I needed to resist to some degree. But I think this is definitely going to be my new collectible Sanrio character along with Korilakkuma! *hint hint* Birthday gift ideas guise c:
I got this for when I start doing giveaways again which should be in another month or so. It's a cute letter set I want to use to personalize and cutify the handwritten letters I give out to you potential winners out there and I'm sure you will like to have these around for decoration on top of winning your awesome prizes! :D
A $10 grab bag full of stationary goodies...
 And more goodies...
And even more goodies!! Yet another cute letterset, but I still like the first one just a weeeeeeee bit more.
Lastly, I got myself a long naturally white fox tail since a dog tore up my old one at the dog park and Hachi put an end to the other tiny one I had thinking it was a toy as well. I've been foxtail-less for about two years now! I don't see many people still rocking them to as much as before but I don't care. This trend is still one of my favorites and I can't wait to start wearing mine like I used to!

That is all for this post. Later I will edit my vlog from this weekend and post it on here but till then, thanks so much to everyone who made this weekend so memorable and exciting! There were no negative nancies that I can think of and I really hope to venture out to other cons across the metroplex from here on out.

Tell me what you guys thought of my different looks! I'm curious to know!

  2. Ify giving me so much life on a weekday! First off, your Dansou look was freakin awesome! I fangirled all over my phone when I saw you killing it.

I can really see the hardwork you put into that Lara Croft cosplay, and it's one of the best ones I've seen. I'm currently trying to be proactive and figure out what I will cosplay for New York Comic Con, but I'll probably end up procrastinating on it anyway -_- I'm so happy that it was a positive event with no drama!

  6. lol XD THANK YOU TAPI AHHHHHH HEARING THAT BRINGS ME SO MUCH JOYYYYYYY!!

I was super scared of trying it out tbh but it was nice to dip myself into a different style for a change. I had constant bitchface the whole time XD But it felt so right! Lara was really my proudest moment but I gotta upgrade her weaponry for the next con I wear her too and fix my stupid quiver! The damn thing kept slanting horizontally on my back and the arrows ended up poking people's eyes and what not. I think I know why now so I'll have to also fix that too. Who do you plan to cosplay as? :3 I'm curious now! If I can do manage to not procrastinate for cosplay so can you!! lol! Yeah this was definitely one of my better cons because people left the drama at home where it needed to be thank goodness. I hope your con will be just as fun if not better!!

  7. Thanks so much! I really did! Being with a group of awesome friends makes such a difference at conventions. I was so glad I went with the group that I did. They mean so much to me.

I wanna do a lookbook with dansou but I need wayyyyyy more practice with it first XD

  9. I can't wait to see the alterations you make! You're cosplay is always awesome, so I'm excited to see what characters you dress up as next^^

Girl, there are too many haha I am thinking about picking two characters out of Winry from Fullmetal Alchemist, Katara from Avatar the Last Airbender, and Shana from Jem and the Holograms. If me and Boba do another couple cosplay, I'll have to scrap one and we'll probably do Inuyasha and Kagome. Aww thank you! I hope it will be a lot of fun, too ^_^

  10. You should! if not you can always just buy them and it would totally be okay to do!

  11. Thank you ahhhh! and if you did Winry I'd love you forever! :D Those are all some really great choices tbh. I haven't seen a good Inuyasha cosplay in so so long and it hurts my soul and little bit to think about. lol but you should definitely go for it! I'd like to see the photos you take in them as well!
